Brazil Inflation Accelerates In December
(RTTNews) - Brazil's consumer prices rose at a faster pace at the end of 2016, figures from IBGE showed Wednesday.
The consumer price index rose 6.29 percent year-on-year following 5.97 percent increase in November. Economists had forecast 6.34 percent inflation.
In 2015, inflation was 10.67 percent and it was 6.41 percent in 2014.
Compared to the previous month, the CPI rose 0.30 percent from November after a 0.18 percent gain in November. Economists had forecast 0.34 percent increase. The latest figure was the lowest for December since 2008.
The biggest impact on inflation, both yearly and monthly, came from the food and beverages group, the IBGE said.
